  • suf 6.0.0.4 performing setup actions screen hangs

I am executing a .bat file as an action under the "after installing" tab. But when the final "After installing screen" is clicked away it appears that the "Performing setup actions screen" has not closed and was hiding underneath. Unfortunately there is no way to close it after that (not even ctl+alt+del). I do have the "wait for program to finish" option checked, but the .bat file has finished at that point, which was detected by the setup otherwise it would not have shown the "After installing screen". There are no actions under the "shutdown tab" since this installation does not require reboot.
The installed program is ok so I could work around this with a required reboot, but I am hoping someone can tell me what is going on here.

So if i understand correctly, you would like to:
    1. finish your installation first then
    2. execute a bat file after all the files are copied.
    3. and you WANT THE INSTALLATION ROUTINE TO QUIT AS SOON AS THE BAT FILE IS EXECUTED.

If it is so, you have to use a "Abort Setup" command after the "execute bat file".

    Hope this will help

      Hi Herm!t,

Does this occur if you uncheck the "wait for program to finish" checkbox?

What version of Setup Factory are you using?

Re: suf 6.0.0.4 performing setup actions screen hangs

        Mark,
As it says in the topic header I am using version 6.0.0.4.
It does not not occur when I uncheck the "wait for program to finish" box, but I wanted to display the "After installing screen" after the batch file is executed.

        dan37_123,
Thanks, but I don't want the installation to quit completely when the batch file is executed. It has to show the "After installing screen" at that point.
However, I have solved the problem by getting rid of the batch file and placing the required command-line params under the actions.I never was in favor of running batch files in a setup. They can be real a pain in the *** because the WinNT- and Win9x-family use different syntax even for simple move commands! So this solution suits me fine.

        Thanks,
        Herm!t

Re: suf 6.0.0.4 performing setup actions screen hangs

          Hi,

You could try hiding the Performing Actions screen by settings %ShowActionProgressDlg% to FALSE before you launch your BAT file.

But if, as you say, the current solution is agreeable then simply accomplish it that way.
