  • Compatability Tab in Windows XP

Is is possible / will it become possible to set the compatability tab properties of an installed exe's desktop icon. Specifically I want to be able to tell it to run as a Windows 98 App.

It might be possible to set those settings "from behind" by modifying the Registry. Try searching on Google, or maybe check the forums at www.annoyances.org or www.arstechnica.com.

Thanks for the pointer. Did not find the answer there but looked in my own registry after changing the settings and it is stored in
HLEY_USERS\...\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Curren tVersion\AppCompatFlags it then has an entry of drive:\path\exe file and the compatability mode required eg Win98.

However this of course will need a fair amount of work in the setup after the exe has been installed (you need to know the installed path) and several other things.

Shame this is not a setting in SF6 to make this easy but this way will do for now.
