  • "File Is In Use"

I have built the installer for my product with SF6.0. When running setup.exe direct from CD the software installs OK if not previously installed. However, if previously installed it doesn't work and I get a message saying one of the files cannot be overwritten because it is in use. If I run the same setup.exe from my hard disk, there is no error message. The file in question is definitely not in use.

Would be grateful if someone could point out what I am missing here. Everything else fine, great product.

Just wondering if this problem was resolved. It was emailed to support, and there was some correspondence, however I never heard back.

Still getting a "File Is In Use" error when re-installing from CD. Installing without a previous installation is OK. Re-installing from the hard disk is also OK. I am running more tests tonight on other machines and will post results.

        Re: "File Is In Use"

I have released the installer as is without tracking down the problem on my development machine. The problem was not repeatable anywhere else (7 different machines tried, worked fine), so obviously something amiss on my machine, but I'll be ****ed if I can find out what it is. Looking through other messages and faqs leads me to conclude that the problem is not inherent in the Setup Factory software. Mea culpa. Thx to the IR guys who took time to offer me their help.
