There can be a number of reasons this may occur. When extracting one of your files from the archive, it is checking the CRC value of the file, but it has changed from the expected value. This can mean that the install file had become corrupt in some sense. It could be an incomplete file or something of that sort.

Depending what your distribution media is going to be, you may want to use the "Verify Archive before installing" option found on the Settings tab of General Design. This is particularly useful if you are distributing by download since files can be cut off prematurely at times or become corrupt during the download.

    Hope this helps.

ok. also, i'm wondering if there is a bug in setup factory since it seems to be "compressing" files that we didn't ask to be compressed. that is, when building our setup .exe, it seems to compress every file in the setup. is this correct?

By default, all files that you add to a project will be compressed. You can manually turn this setting off on a per-file basis by disabling the "Compress file" option on the Advanced tab of the Properties dialog for the file.

I have run into this problem on Windows 2000 machines. Installs will work fine on some machines, but not others. I've found that the problem is the installing user is not signed in with an administrator account. The 'decompression' error is a misnomer. It really just means that the new file couldn't be created, which in this case was caused by permissions.
