Is there a way to replace the "optional" opening SUF splash with a custom splash?

No, I'm sorry that is not possible. However you can disable the logo image and simply display a progress dialog by unchecking the "Show Setup Factory logo on initial splash screen" checkbox located on the SETTINGS tab of GENERAL DESIGN.

For some of the same reasons Indigo would like to splash their logo, I think it would be a better idea to let your customer splash theirs.

It would also help those who's logos don't conform well to the spaces provided.

That's not a bad suggestion, but there are technical reasons why a custom logo isn't quite as easy as it sounds.

Setup Factory actually starts off with a miniature "stub program" (or "launcher") that loads into memory, unpacks the bigger, customized installer from the archive, and then exits.

The logo/progress dialog is actually displayed by the launcher during this process. It's whole purpose is just to provide some responsiveness feedback to the user in case it takes a while to get the installer unpacked and running on the user's system. The logo was actually originally added just to make the progress display look good. We could have used a picture of dancing kittens, for that matter, but the Setup Factory logo makes more sense. Since this logo needs to be displayed by the launcher before it even starts unpacking the actual installer, it isn't a very good candidate for customization at all.

I appreciate the coding problem you have, however as you said it is "not a bad sugestion", however there are many ways to skin a cat.

Why not offer a optional "logo" screen with a template that is more flexible than your existing screen templates (dispays a bitmap image only), so that it could be used as an opening "Logo" page (screen)?

Well I'd like to weigh in on this discussion with a very important question which seems to have been overlooked in all this. What type of dance are they doing?

Considering the official Indigo Rose corporate dance is the Lambada that might be appropriate.
