Starting Error

Hi,
a user is running my setup (win98 2nd edition), and is getting the message box "starting error" when it is installing (setting registry entries i think).
Searched the forum but no joy. Anyone shed any light on this
please?

Last entry in setuplog is

That doesn't ring a bell. Are you sure that's exactly what the message says? You might want to double-check with that user.

Thanks Pete, I got the screenshot via email. I'm not sure if that's a Setup Factory error message, actually; it isn't in the standard language file. Did you edit the language files at all? Do any of your actions have custom error messages?

Do you have any Start Service actions in your project? It could be referring to trying to start a service...that might even be a system error message, although I would normally expect a system message to be more detailed than that.

I've forwarded the screenshot on to [email protected], maybe someone in our support department can shed a bit more light on this.

Hi,
no - it is a pretty standard installation. The language files have not been changed. No services are started.
I ran this on a W98 machine here, with no problems at all.
Could the registry file be full I wonder?

What version of Setup Factory are you using? The newest is 6.0.1.2, if you are not using it you can get the latest version here: http://www.indigorose.com/products/s..._patches_1.php
