  • Self-Registration errors under WIndows XP

A client is getting the following errors when running one of my installers under Windows XP. Nothing special about this installer being installed, it's designed to just copy files from a CD. The have 2 Windows XP machines, it works fine on one and not the other. Could this be a permissions problem?

    Self-registration error
One or more files did not properly self-register

    1. c:\windows\system32\msexcel35.dll
    unspecified error

    2. c:\windows\system32\msltus35.dll

    3. c:\windows\system32\mspdox35.dll

    4. c:\windows\system32\msrd2x35.dll

    5. c:\windows\system32\msext35.dll

    6. c:\windows\system32\msxbse.dll

    7. c:\windows\system32\oleaut32.dll

    8. c:\windows\system32\stdole2.dll

That would be my guess as well. The user likely doesn't have administrative permissions to access/modify that portion of the OS, so that would be the first thing to check.
