possible to include 'referred by' in GET/POST function??

okay, in my installer, i have a login feature, to help prevent people leechers from downloading files from my site without at least being registered first...

i would LIKE to be to protect my files on the web, so that for someone to download, they have to have been referred by a specific url, but i can't do that and have the installer work at the same time, so is there any way to pass some kind of 'referred by' url using the POST/GET function, so that the installer properly identifies itself to the server when retrieving files???

There is no referrer for people linking from an app. That's only when someone arrives at a URL via a seperate URL. Are you talking about their hostname maybe?

don't worry about it, i can't find enough info about HTTP_Referer, so i'm just going to leave it alone for now
