  • gracefully exiting installer

    Hello,

I have been asked by my client if it's possible, after the user has already installed the program on their system, that the next time they insert the CDROM. The installer program launches the program instead of running the installer again.

I've made the necessary registry key checks but was wondering if there's a "graceful Quit" option within the SUF so I can check if the registry key is true and then open the program with the installer and then quit the installer.

    Any suggestions,

    devin

Yes, this should be possible. What you would do is first check to see if a Registry entry value exists on the user's machine. If it does not, such as the first time it is run, write a value to the user's registry. However if it does, you could launch the application from it's installed path and follow it with an "Abort" action which is located within the "Control Structures" category.

    Hope that helps.

Whenever someone mentions "graceful exits" I always think of David Niven. Swoon...
