  • Uninstall, %SilentMode%

    I have, in before uninstall
    if %SilentMode%
    show dialog
    abort
    endif

When running the uninstall from the program folder, it always aborts.

    Re: Uninstall, %SilentMode%

I think I may know what is happening, however I want to ask one question first. When you ran that install, was it run silently as well?

No; due to the complexity of the install; we do not allow silient installs.

        Re: Uninstall, %SilentMode%

Unfortunately that theory was blown. How are you launching the uninstall? Is it through the standard shortcut that is created in Setup Factory, or have you modified it to include the silent option? Are you launching it from an action? Have you used a custom variable of that name in your install at all?

I may have to see your project file in order to try to replicate the behavior on my end.

          Re: Uninstall, %SilentMode%

well; now that I think about it; it may have been.
I did do 1 install with /s (I had %SilnetMode% (typo)) so it went thru.... but I thought I did an install after that.

          ---
I'd be interested in your theory tho... there is talk of making the installer "smarter" and allowing "network unattended" installs (silent) but the uninstall can never be silent - it MUST ask questions....

            Re: Uninstall, %SilentMode%

I've actually determined that the variable %SilentMode% isn't updated in the uninstall at all. So that is definitely a bug. What I was going to say previously is that all variables are written to the uninstall INI file, %SilentMode% being one of them, therefore it will take it's value from that INI file.

Unfortunately until that bug is resolved, there appears to be no way to determine whether or not the user ran the uninstall in silent mode.

              Re: Uninstall, %SilentMode%

I did a quick test -- and I think that's what it was...
any idea when (if) this might be "fixed"? There hasn't been a service maintence/upgrade/patch for suf in a while....

              thanks

                Re: Uninstall, %SilentMode%

I believe that the SUF patch is next on the "to do" list, however there's some development going on currently, so when there is a lull in that schedule, they'll get to work on it. Unfortunately I cannot say when that will occur though, sorry.
