    • Setup Factory 6.0

    SUMMARY

This document provides development notes for the DCOM95 runtime module that is used with Setup Factory 6.0.

    DISCUSSION

    Module Description

Many applications require that DCOM95 be installed on Windows 95 machines. The Setup Factory 6.0 DCOM95 runtime support module will install DCOM95 onto your user's Windows 95 Machine.

    Module Configuration

In order to properly configure the DCOM95 runtime support module you must download one file: DCOM95.EXE (v1.3)

DCOM95.EXE can be downloaded from: http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom95/download.asp

DCOM95.EXE must be saved in the following directory:

    ...\Setup Factory 6.0\Runtimes\DCOM95\DCOM95.EXE

If this file is not located in the proper directory, or if it is an incorrect version, the DCOM95 runtime support module will not work, and your build will fail.

    Developer Notes

The Setup Factory 6.0 DCOM95 runtime support module will install DCOM95 version 1.3 on your user's system. DCOM95 is designed to only be installed on computers running the Windows 95 operating system; therefore the Setup Factory 6.0 DCOM95 runtime support module will only install DCOM95 on your user's computer if they are using Windows 95.

If your user does require DCOM 95, the Setup Factory 6.0 DCOM 95 runtime support module will ensure that it is installed properly, and automatically force a reboot after the installation has completed.

Most people will not want to simply install DCOM95; instead they will want to install MDAC (which requires DCOM95 on Windows 95 machines). If you would like to install MDAC please use the Setup Factory MDAC 2.6 SP1 runtime support module.
