    for most installs to start and successfully fully complete,
    in the Design environment in SUF70, > System Requirements,
    'Administrative Priveleges Required' really needs to be selected-enforced.'

    'irsetup.exe' is an essential component, don't concern yourself with that.

    'irsetup.exe launch error': can occur when the above 'admin priveleges'
    setting, in SUF70, is Deselected and the built 'mysetup.exe' is run
    on an NT based system without equivelent 'account security settings'
    ie: read-write-execute permissions for the user account under which
    your mysetup.exe is run.

    Just a HeadsUp: same failure to run irsetup.exe error, can also occur under
    current beta build's of Windows Vista, when user account priveleges Are at
    Administrative level, the error occurrs Only if the SUF70 setting mentioned is de-selected.
    (interestingly though- Vista detects this failure to launch and applies a
    compatibility fix - runs it as if 'windows xp sp2' and viola ..will run after 'fix').

    there may also be a possibility that a bug has snuck in to how the SUF70
    built mysetup.exe' is handling user account permissions detection.
    (or perhaps - notification handling options, if admin privs. option is deselected ?)

    my 2 bob with designing setups, always enforce-select Admin Priv's required
    for builds, when you think about it, what are user account permissions for ...

    hth a little.

    Hi all,

    I figured out that the problem was to do with IRSetup.exe, which was being disallowed from running by the security settings on the computer.

    It's all working now.

    Cheers,
    Malcolm

    "Launcher Error: Could not start the setup."

    Hi,

    I've created a Setup Factory 7.0 installation executable with the following characteristics;

    (1) "User must have administrative privileges" in the "Requirements" tab of "Project Settings" set to false.
    (2) "User Notication" in the above tab set to "Warn user and continue".

    The installation works fine when the user has administrative privileges. When the user does not, however, I am getting the following error message that says, "Launcher Error: Could not start the setup".

    Click image for larger version

Name:	error.JPG
Views:	1
Size:	5.5 KB
ID:	285487

    Please note also;

    (3) Standard users have a large level of restriction on this computer, as it is a part of a standard operating system.
    (4) I have code in the "On Startup" action, however, I believe the app is failing before it gets to my code (as the error heading is different). My code begins with;

    Code:
    _InstallStages.CreateUninstall = false;

    tLANinfo = System.GetLANInfo();
    error = Application.GetLastError();
    if (error ~= 0) then
    	Dialog.Message("Error", _tblErrorMessages[error], MB_OK, MB_ICONEXCLAMATION);
    	Application.Exit();
    end
    I can not find a reference to this error in the help guide or the forums. Does anyone know what is happenning?

    Thanks for your help,
    Malcolm
