Vista Error Message When Closing

I think it's the Data Execution Prevention option causing this. Somehow the IR products try to execute something from memory, marked as data. Are you guys using a recent compiler for your code? (at least VC++ 2005, 2008 is best; IDK about others).

Putting this in the On Shutdown even gets rid of the error. Maybe this will help to track down the problem.
Code:Window.Close(Application.GetWndHandle(), CLOSEWND_TERMINATE);

so it must be something else that dermot and i have in common, there are so many things that could cause a crash in a computer nowadays, maybe the futures updates of ams and/or windows will solve that issue.
time will tell
have a nice day

nothing fancy here as well hp dv9695ef laptop with 2 go of ram, 2x250 hdd, geforce 8400m gs, vista home premium + sp1 with updates and drivers coming either from microsoft and/or hp
nothing *****ed or illegal (there are still people that pays all their licences including sharewares
so i don't see a thing that could make the machine crash, and beside that my ams apps are the only things that make abnormal terminations, if the dev team need more precisions please feel free to ask i will be happy to help.

as it seems that dermot has an computer coming from HP and my laptop is also from HP (part of their drivers are home made such as the graphic driver) maybe it's coming from one of these, besides of that i can't uninstall them coz i need all the features of my laptopLast edited by cgirolet; 11-13-2008, 03:12 PM.

I updated Vista today as well (nearly 140 MB of updates!), and I still get no crash on leaving the application. Perhaps this has something to do with some buggy driver I don't have installed...

Mine is a desktop (HP) and his is a laptop so I doubt it but you never know. Certainly makes me nervous about distributing my apps.Originally posted by RizlaUK View Postno crash here, and my machine is up 2 date
dose vista update hardware drivers ?
i thinking maybe you guys could have the same driver causeing a problem, do you have any hardware in common, or is that unlikely

I tested your app and it crashes on exit.Originally posted by cgirolet View Postso we have the very same problem, none of my app either old or new is working (well they're working until i quit them) the problem is to know wich one of the little update is responsible of that and can we uninstall it without causing more problems.
for now only my apps mad with ams are touched by this issue the rest of my computer is very stable. did you tried my quit_me app ? just to see if it crashes on your computer too.
well i think we'll have to wait for the next update of ams in order to see if it solves the problem, if i find something useful i will tell you using either the forum or a private message to you
keep on the good work

It has to be a Vista update because all my apps worked fine before and now none of them do.Originally posted by cgirolet View Posti just made a test of my quit_me app on the laptop of my girlfriend, she has the very same laptop as mine (same brand, same serie, same specs) coz we bought the both laptop the same day.
the only difference is that she has not installed vista sp1 over her vista home premium. and when i'm launching my app on her laptop it doesn't not crash when i quit it, either by a button, or a menu option or using the red crosshair, when the very same app is crashing on my laptop now matter how i quit it.
so for me it's either sp1 or any other minor updates installed since that causes the crash, can't be more precise coz vista isn't very precise on what's changed on the system when it's doing automatic updates.

i'm quiet sure it's vista sp1 fault now

same problem here
yep
i've got the very same problem here, i can compile anything, the application is working well but each time i quit (either by the menu bar option) or using the red cross in the upper right corner the app is crashing (at least vista says that the app will be stopped).
it does'nt not depend on the app complexity coz i've tried to make a simple app with nothing on it (just a blank screen), crashed the very same way. i think it's vista fault (at least maybe due some of the latest upadates done automatically) because the very same applications did not crashed before.
i'm using centrino duo 2.0 ghz with 2 gos of ram on a laptop pre-installed with vista home premium+sp1+latest drivers.
i tried ams 7.0 and ams 7.5.1 the problem is the same. i tought i was the only one to get this issue but apparently we're at least two.
if i execute the same apps on a xp machine they are not crashing when ended.
hope this will help the dev team to better understand what is happening, have a nice day

It happens with every single AMS app, even ones created before 7.5. So it has nothing to with the recent updates. I tested it with UAC on and off. It must be something on my machine, but what. It only happens with AMS apps.
