  • Proper way to install INF files?

    What is the proper way to install INF files? I've tried using the Shell.Execute() function with the Install verb, but it does not seem to work. Any examples?

    AFAIK, you need to execute something similar to this:
    Code:
    C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 file.inf
    Of course you should use proper session variables to get the path to rundll32 and not run exactly this command...

      Thanks.

      I tried something like this:

      Shell.Execute(
      SessionVar.Expand("%SystemFolder%\\RunDll32.exe"),
      "open",
      "myinffile.inf",
      SessionVar.Get("%SystemFolder%"),
      SW_SHOWNORMAL,
      true);
      but did not work. Is there a mistake I'm making there?

        Where are the arguments I gave you? You know, the setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 part...
