Yes, but for each language I need to change that Encoding value to edit each language, correct? What I need is text that will read properly in the one installer that will not know the user's selected language until they select it.

The screenshot in the previous post shows a file with Chinese in ANSI encoding. This file could be used in ANY application from Indigo Rose. And of course you could see the text properly displayed if you change the regional settings of your computer to the language you want to see, if you do not want to use an external editor as I suggested. Here is text in Greek, which can be displayed properly in the development environment of Setup Factory with very little effort, as can Chinese, Russian, Japanese, etc. - just by setting the language for non-Unicode programs (such as Setup Factory) in the Windows Control Panel. This is nothing new, this was mentioned many times here.

But I am not using AutoPlay. I am using SUF and inputting the text messages in the SUF wizard which only works with Chinese when it looks like "ĵ§i¡G¦¹¦wŵ{§Ç»Ýn§¹¥þºÞ²zXC¡A¦Ó¥u¦³¦b³qǹ«¥k" .

Use a more capable text editor to resolve this. My personal preference is HippoEdit, which allows me to change the encoding on the fly, should it not autodect correctly by itself.

If we could use Unicode it would be easier for everyone.

Windows-950 encoding works fine in Setup Factory and AutoPlay Media Studio for traditional Chinese, so this is what I would use. For simplified Chinese, the encoding is Windows-936.

But the language text used in SUF require Big5 for example, like ĵ§i¡G¦¹¦wŵ{§Ç»Ýn§¹¥þºÞ²zXC¡A¦Ó¥u¦³¦b³qǹ«¥k.

Or has that been changed in SUF?

The *.apz is an AutoPlay Media Studio project archive, containing the resources needed to build it. The sample project in this package features several XML files, using the proper ANSI encodings for display in AutoPlay Media Studio.

As AutoPlay Media Studio and Setup Factory share many of the actions and code, the way ANSI encoded texts can be used to display non-Western text is also the same in both applications.

What can I view a .apz file with?

The texts must be provided in ANSI encoding. For example, Greek could be Windows-1253, Japanese could be encoded in Windows-932, Russian in Windows-1251, etc.
I have a page explaining this, and a sample project for AutoPlay Media Studio.

    started a topic Language encoding

    Language encoding

Sure, I have discussed this before but cannot find anything related... search is sad.

I need to add some new language strings, but Unicode doesn't work in SUF, so please remind me what to ask for when I contact our translators, ie: for Chinese, Greek, Japanese and Russian.

Google cannot read this... Óñòàíîâèòü Óíèâåðñàëüíûé êîíâåðòåð äîêóìåíòîâ so what do I ask our translators for?
Working...
