  • Enable and Disable Uninstall option via user input

    Hi,

I normally want an Uninstaller folder + reg keys ect.. when my installer finished. For one use case I currently need a way that can replicate turning off "Create Uninstall" in the Uninstall settings so that when the installation finishes there is no Uninstall folder + keys ect. I have had a look around the docs to find a possible attribute that is able to bet set (Uninstall on/off) in the scripts but have come up empty handed. Does anyone know if this is possible, if so - how?

    Many thanks

I'm not sure how to do this. However, I'm curious, why would you ever want to disable uninstall?

I am wanting my installer to have the option to install all .exe and also extract .exe. Perhaps this is my limited understanding of SF but for the extract option I just want the .exe to be installed (extracted) to a user defined folder (essentially allow application to be extracted ontop of an already installed app) - they will have nothing associated with them just simple .exe files, no registry keys - only existing in the extracted folder. For these files I do not need an Uninstall option as they are merely copies of the original .exe that are installed. This is all work for a client as a request.

      Thanks

Did you find any way to do that? I was looking for the same thing, so that I can install my application as a "stand alone one", without any registry entries for uninstall or shortcuts and I couldn't do anything unfortunately... I was first thinking to extract the files from setup and copy them myself via lua scripting and then aborting the setup so that no uninstall is created...but there is not way to extract them even tho you have API to list the files from the setup... My only workaround is to download from my website a zip package with just the files and the unzip them... but that's a bit ridiculous since the user already downloaded the exe setup with the files required packed in it... To bad you can't extract the files via lua script that need installed so that you can accomplish more...

If you are a licensed user of Setup Factory, I suggest that you associate your forum username with the customer account, on the "My Account" page in the customer portal.
