  • Trouble creating an installer with multiple user options

    Hello guys

I am having trouble making an installer for a plugin for a software called autodesk 3dsmax
    The situation:
I have a pre configured folder structure which is sort of like this

    plugins
    scripts>marcoscript

the plugin is for compatible with three versions of 3DS Max
    which are
    2009 x32/64
    2010 x32/64
    2010 x32/64

    the program directory is this
    %ProgramFilesFolder%\Autodesk
for example 3DS Max 2010 will be
    %ProgramFilesFolder%\Autodesk\3ds Max 2010

Now what i want is to create an option box
    set out like this
    3ds Max 2009 32-bit
    3ds Max 2009 64-bit
    3ds Max 2010 32-bit
    3ds Max 2010 64-bit
    3ds Max 2011 32-bit
    3ds Max 2011 64-bit

and you tick what version you want to install to.

How do i make an installer where you click an option ie. 3ds Max 2010 64-bit
and the file structure added to setup Factory gets installed to that directory ticked
without me making a seperate installer for each version.

    cheers Jack

    Why don't you use Packages?

I have tried this but for the files you have to set a destination?
      such as %AppFolder%\example

        Hi,

of course, all files need to have a destination, with or without the use of packages. Your question was

How do i make an installer where you click an option ie. 3ds Max 2010 64-bit and the file structure added to setup Factory gets installed to that directory ticked without me making a seperate installer for each version.
The answer to that is: group your files into packages, so only the files belonging to the selected package(s) will be deployed. Files may be part of more than one package, you don't need to have multiple copies of files in the installer:

You need to add the Select Packages screen to your installer, and allow the user to select what he wants to install:
