This error message can be shown when the update executable and the data file are out of sync. In other words, it is possible that both new files were successfully downloaded, but your anti-virus prevented the renaming operation from completing - now you possibly have a file still from the previous version and the other file is current.
You need an *.exe and a *.dat file. Possibly you have a new executable, just not with the correct extension. You may wnt to check the files in the update folder... or you need to perform a reinstall to fix the issue.
Two weeks later .. the Update still does not work, but now my Maintenance Agreement has expired, and Indigo Rose are asking me to renew my Maintenance Agreement.
If I renew, will I get a new installation download or will it rely on the current non-functional update.exe? Anyone know??
Sorry, I cannot ask technical support, because they say "You must have a valid maintenance policy to submit support tickets for this license" - so this is a Catch 22 situation!
Please read my reply again. I wrote that you would need to reinstall the product, in case you couldn't find the required files to rename. Have you done this? Otherwise, you could restore the folder "C:\ProgramData\IndigoRose\Setup Factory\9.0" from a backup.
You can always download full installers from the Customer Portal.
Thank you, Ulrich. At the moment, I have a running, but outdated, SUF 9.1. I am reluctant to reinstall, because if the reinstall fails (like the update has), then I will have no running version of SUF.
And it appears that I cannot download an installer of 9.2 (or any version) because my maintenance agreement has expired, even though the maintenance agreement was active when 9.2 was released :-(
Are you sure of that? Which versions of Setup Factory can you download from the Customer Portal after logging into your account? You should be able to re-download 9.1, and 9.2 of course, it was released before your subscription ended.
Thanks for your persistence, Ulrich. This time the download worked for me. I must have done something wrong before :-(
The file "download-file.php" is downloaded. I renamed it to "download-file.exe" and double-clicked on it. This message displays:
"Setup has detect that Setup Factory 9 is currently installed and must be uninstalled before continuing. Click OK to uninstall now, or Cancel to abort the setup."
Am risking all by clicking "OK".
SUF9.1 uninstalls - SUF9.2 installs - and functions correctly!!
Thank you, Ulrich - now to renew my SUF maintenance agreement ...
