Dynamically add Category Nodes to Select Package Control

I have added a Select Package Control to a Custom Screen. (Setup Factory 9.2)

Is there a way to dynamically add Category Nodes to the tree? There does not appear to be a way, but I was hoping there was some trick.

Categories / packages can be set at design-time only. You can change the caption of a package, and enable/disable via script at runtime, but you cannot add or remove items.
