  • timestamp server cannot reached

    Hi all, Hi Ulrich,

i have now again a question from Signing my Setup.
I have DL and Installed KSign. And create a cert. Now i like Sign my Setup.exe
but if i like Signing so i have a Error. Time Stamp Server cannot Reached.

    The url is: http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll

    why comes this Error ?
Can any one help me ?

    Thank you very much

    Chris

If you use the kSignCMD tool, then the Timestamp URL can even be left blank, because KSign uses Comodo time server for signing and timestamping.

However, what worries me is your comment that you "created a cert". One does not create a cert - a code signing certificate needs to be paid for, and is created by a CA like Thawte, Comodo, Versign, etc.. Self-signed certificates cannot be used for code signing.

Messages regarding code signing servers not answering during the build process are common. The server may be overloaded or you may be experiencing a temporary network issue. Just wait a minute or two and try again.

Make sure that you don't have a problem with your network settings, that the computer is online, and the communication with the CA is not being blocked by antivirus or firewall software. If that doesn't help, please post your project file, or open a support ticket, attaching your project file.

Ok, so you are using kSignCMD.exe for signing the setup. For testing purposes only, clear the checkbox "Code sign setups", and build a sample3.exe which won't be signed. Then open "D:\Programme\kSign\kSign.exe", and attempt to sign the sample setup using the code signing utility interactively.

If this works, then this would mean that just the command line version (kSignCMD.exe) is being blocked from communicating with the external server. If the test using kSign.exe also fails, then this means that your computer is somehow so locked down that applications cannot reach external servers, and that you need to review your network, antivirus or firewall settings.
