  • Uninstall Error message

When I run install, I get an error message. Window title: Uninstall. Message: Invalid start mode: archive file.

What does this mean? Running SF9. Uninstall is listed among the archived files. What should I do to correct this?

Please try to run the uninstaller via the entry in the "Programs and Features" applet in the Control Panel.

Ulrich, thanks. I have tried that, and it works. I thought the uninstaller was intended to be run as a stand-alone. Am I wrong?

It can be run, but for its proper execution a bunch of command line arguments are required, pointing to the names and location of the *.dat and *.xml files. You can find this in the docs, if you are curious. Just calling the executable without arguments won't work.

Ulrich, I have found several articles on the subject but no clear example of how to set the command line arguments. Can you please provide an example of the arguments so I can finalize my installer please? Or at least point me to an example that I can mimic

Programs should be uninstalled via Programs and Features, not via shortcuts. You do not need to build a command line for the uninstaller in order to create a setup with a properly working entry in the Control Panel.
