  • Temporarily disable Archive

I have some large folders Archived to the installer. When I need to test an aspect of the installer, I have to wait several minutes for the build to finish. The only option is to delete the Archived line and build without it then re-add it later. That is undesirable if there are lots of settings selected on the General, Advanced, Conditions, Packages, or Notes tabs.

A convenient feature would be to temporarily turn off selected Archives so they are not included in the build and turn them on later for final version. Perhaps add "Disable" to the context menu.

Easy. Create a new build configuration, and give it a name. Select the files you don't want to be included, and uncheck them in the build configuration as needed.

Example, assume you have a "Default" configuration, and a "Quick Test" configuration, where you do not want to include all files.

Now, select the files you do not want to be included in the "Quick Test" configuration, in the Archive Tab, and right click to reach the File Properties dialog.
Go to the Conditions tab, and deselect the "Quick Test" build configuration:

Now these files will be included in the setup only when you select to build the "Default" setting, but not if the "Quick Test" is chosen:

If you configure the IDE to show the Build Configuration in a column, then you can see which files will be included:

In the same manner, you could even have files that would be included only in a "Quick Test", but not in the Default build, if you want. That is what you are looking for, yes?

Yes thanks, I think I would incorporate that into most of my installers. Hadn't looked at Build configurations before, it seems so obvious now
